I haven’t posted here before but I wanted to take the opportunity to reach out to those deacons, teachers, and members who think much like I do that our website should reflect our Church and its activities.

Many visitors to our website see areas that are simply out of date, not current, reflect a good “historical” record of Agape, but simply does not say what we are currently doing! In this day and age that simply isn’t a good reflection on what Agape is about. That needs to change and today is the time to take actions to fix that issue. It starts with me, your website administrator.

I personally believe Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” I believe that means everyone who follows Christ.

There is actually no reason that this website is not a large and active part of our ministry. It is certainly possible that it can and should be more inclusive. That means every teacher, ever member, every deacon, all the staff, and of course the web administrator (me) have to take an active role in assuring the site is used to communicate with other members and all visitors. I understand there are those members who don’t visit the website… that’s OK not everyone will nor should everyone contribute.   However, those who would like to see the website active should certainly feel free to being an active member and contributor.

Agape uses a “content management system” or “CMS” that means it is easy to add content.  Anyone who can type can add content, of course that will be reviewed and approved prior to it’s appearance, but anyone who wants to be part of the activity is fully capable of participation.  The site also has a “Users” function which allows us to grant status for those people who wish to participate. It is the AGAPE website and those who want to see the website as an active ministry of the church should be able to use the site for that purpose.

Just think how great it would be if each Bible Study Class had it’s own web page! Guess what, we can do that, it is easy. However, if each class has it’s own page, that page will need to be current, not last years news. That means that your contributions are necessary, it means that each of us who want to see an active website, has to do our part to be sure that happens. Yes, YOU can put content on the site, load pictures, update information, add events, include links to other web content, even include videos.  That is the beauty of a CMS and it is the members who then have the live ability to communicate using the web.  If you are worried about a mistake, don’t be, the web site as the entire internet, is always changing, and the content is always able to be edited!  So nothing is on “Stone Tablets” , none of us are that accurate!  I hesitate to say how many mistakes I had while entering this information… I also don’t want to admit the number of revisions that were done prior to it being made active.  I will also say that even after it is made active, it may get edited!

SO, if you are interested and want to see an Active Agape….. call me, or send me an email (you can get that from the church directory), or see me after a Sunday Morning Service (that’s me upstairs by the video cameras).

As Jesus commanded in Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” The internet provides a good place to help carry that command… let’s us do our part!

Thank You for Listening. I am looking forward to those who wish to contribute, your username and login await, it is a whole new adventure to become a web author/contributor and share your church.
