Agape Message 8-28-15
Friends, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ.” (Philippians 4: 4-7)
There are many times when we find ourselves being overcome with anxiety. We hear bad or disturbing things nearly every day in the news, read it in the newspaper, or have friends or family who are encountering great difficulties. Why shouldn’t we be concerned? God’s word tells us to carry or take these problems whatever their nature to Him. God knows about our concerns even before we can take them in prayer to Him. He is a loving God who cares, so we struggle with taking our worries and concerns to Him and leaving them there. God also knows the future and all the many things that are before us. When we are troubled about the future, He says carry all these troubles to Him. Let’s take some time to encourage each other with caring prayer and listening ears.
Our Christian Women’s Job Corp will be starting a new group on September 16. If you know of anyone who might be in need of this training, please invite them yourself, or provide their information to Wanda Helms. This is a great program of help for those young women who are in need of finding a job.
Have you taken time to look at Agape Web Page lately? It is changing and much work has already been done and more changes are taking place. You need to help by providing information and announcements and other things of interest. Bible Study Classes can provide information on their classes. Help the world and us to have some insight into the good things happening at Agape Baptist Church.
By the way, if you were not at the business conference last Sunday evening, you may not know of the proposals brought by the Steering Team for our thoughts and discussion. Brother Dean said we all need to be discussing, and talking about this report. I would imagine you might find a copy of it at the back of the Worship Center.
Agape saves Campbell’s Soup labels, Box Top coupons for Luella Merrett. There are collection containers at the back of the worship center and in Henderson Hall for these items. Save them and bring you collection to church to turn in. Your time and help is appreciated.
Sunday is Fifth Sunday and time for a wonderful fellowship. We will gather at 5:30 pm in Faith Hall. The Social Team is asking you to bring a plate of sandwiches or fruit or vegetable plate to augment the sandwiches. The Social Team is suggestion you might want to sit with your 4×4 group. The Social Team will provide drinks and dessert. Come and be a part of God’s fellowshipping family!
On Sunday September 13, we will have a joint mission worship service at Western Hills Baptist Church at 10:50 a.m. Our choir will join with their choir and both choirs will sing together. There will be no service at Agape that morning. Following the service, lunch will be served for $5 per-person. The proceeds will go to the Mary Hill Davis Mission offering. These monies should not replace what you would normally give to the missions offering through our church.
Hymn Festival is coming up September 20 at 6:00 P.M. You have already heard about this but you will want to invite friends to join with you for the special time of worship through music. Old and new hymns will be sung. It promises a wonderful evening of praise.
See You Sunday,
